A series of five ODIs Pakistan and West Indies is starting today. The first match will be played at Gros Islet, on today 23rd of April.
Both Pakistan and West Indies are missing a few big names in this series. Chris Gayle, who is playing in Indian Premier League is not in the squad. On the other hand Pakistan is playing without Razzaque , Younis Khan, Umer Gul and Kamran Akmal. However, this absence of big names is not going to cause a lack of interest in the viewers in both Pakistan and West Indies, and people are likely to watch this series with traditional enthusiasm.
In the last 11 one day series Pakistan defeated West Indies 6 times and lost to them on 5 occasions. There was a time back in 1980's when no team in the world could ever thought of defeating West Indies in a series. However by the passage of time West Indian side lost its strength , and now it is a comparatively weaker side to play against.
Pakistan is playing with a few newcomer young players, including Hammad Azam who played really well in the last under 19 world cup . A left arm fast bowler, Junaid Khan is also playing for Pakistan replacing seasoned Umer Gul.
The match will start at 9:30 local time, 13:30 GMT and at 18:30 according to Pakistan standard time.
